Nitrogen Removal for Low Concentration Ammonium Wastewater by Adsorption, Shortcut Simultaneous Nitrification and Denitrification Process in MBBR

Excessive discharge of ammonia nitrogen wastewater from intensive aquaculture has worsened in recent years. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop effective and energy-saving denitrification technology. This study intends adopt a moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) remove through the combination adsorption shortcut simultaneous nitrification (SND). The research focuses on operational parameters regeneration mechanism MBBR adsorption-shortcut SND process. optimal operating stage were hydraulic retention time 8 h agitation rate 120 r/min. For stage, ideal two times alkalinity dissolved oxygen (DO) 1.0 mg/L. Under conditions, rate, TN removal NH4+-N nitrite accumulation 89.1%, 84.0%, 94.3%, 86.4%, respectively. synergetic actions ion exchange microorganisms main driving force for regenerating ceramsite zeolite components. synergistic inhibitory effect high-concentration free low-level DO nitrite-oxidizing bacteria was key achieving stable efficient NO2−-N accumulation. produced entered complex mass transfer, denitrifying can reduce these N2.
